  • Please read these Rules carefully. By entering the competition, you acknowledge that you have read these Rules and will comply with them.
  • The Contest is organized by the COMnPLAY SCIENCE project.
  • You, or – if under 18 years old – your parent or guardian, will be required to agree to these Rules before entering into the Contest, by way of a check-box on the online contest form. If you are a parent or legal guardian agreeing to these rules for the benefit of a child, you are fully responsible for his or her entry in the contest.
    Entry to the Contest is free.

Eligibility

  • The deadline for submissions is midnight (CET) on 31 March 2020.
  • The contest is open to anyone, including but not limited to children, adults, schools, families, youth groups, scientists, engineers, academics.
  • To be eligible, you must:
    • be 18 years old or – if under 18 years old – must have permission to enter the Contest from a parent or guardian;
    • be a legal resident of one of the Member States of the European Union or an Associate Country at the time of the award decision.

Submitting an entry

  •  To participate, you must fill in all mandatory fields and submit the online contest form on the project’s Website.
  • You must also submit the informed consent form signed in by the interviewee, which grants you their permission to submit their name, answers and photos to the contest.
  • You can submit up to 3 different entries.
  • Entries must be submitted in one of the following languages:
    • English
    • Dutch
    • Finnish
    • German
    • Greek
    • Norwegian
    • Spanish
    • Swedish

Selecting the Winner

  • All entries will be judged by a panel comprising one representative from each project partner. Decisions made by the panel are final. No correspondence will be entered into. The composition of the panel may vary. The panel reserves the right to disqualify submitted entries at its sole discretion, if considered to be plagiarisms, morally or ethically questionable, and/or offensive – whether intentionally or not.
  • There will be 5 winners in total:
    • 1 overall contest winner for the most inspiring story
    • 1 overall contest winner for the most creative story
    • 1 winner in the category “16+” (years old)
    • 1 winner in the category “12 – 16” (years old)
    • 1 winner in the category “under 12” (years old)
  • The winners will be announced in the web page of the contest on 15 June 2020 and will also be notified via email.

The Prizes

  • All 5 winning stories will be illustrated by a professional graphic artist and added to the COMnPLAYer app along with credit to their creators.
  • The winners will receive a printed version of their story signed by the graphic artist as well as one of the following prizes:

    • overall contest winner for the most creative story

  • The prizes are personal to the winners and non-transferable. No cash alternative for any prizes will be offered.

Intellectual property rights, information and publicity

  • By entering the contest you, or  – if under 18 years old – your parent or guardian, confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you own all Intellectual Property Rights (“IPRs”) subsisting in your entry to the contest and that your entry does not infringe any third party’s IPRs.
  • You retain the copyright in your entry, but you grant to COMnPLAY SCIENCE project a perpetual, royalty-free license to publish, broadcast, communicate and make available your entry, including but not limited to: (a) the COMnPLAYer app, (b) the project Website, (c) scientific or others publications in any electronic or physical media. 
  • You agree that the COMnPLAY SCIENCE project may edit and translate your entry in order to be included in the app.
  • You agree that the COMnPLAY SCIENCE project may create artistic illustrations based on the submitted photos, without requiring to take into account any related feedback or objections.

Changes and competition cancellation

  • COMnPLAY SCIENCE reserves the right to cancel the competition at any time and to change the form and substance, dates for deadlines and events, locations or specification of the competition and/or prize.
  • COMnPLAY SCIENCE reserves the right not to award a prize.

Personal Data

  • The COMnPLAY SCIENCE project reserves the right to use the names of winners in any publicity both in paper and online and in the COMnPLAYer app.
  • By submitting your entry to the contest, you give permission to the COMnPLAY SCIENCE project to use the information provided by you in your entry and during your participation in the contest for the purposes of administering and judging the contest and any other purpose connected to the contest. This information may be shared with the panel members and anyone involved in the contest.
  • Please see the project’s Privacy Policy for further details.
  • As participants to the competition, you are free at any time and until 10 days after the contest submission deadline to refuse to participate, or withdraw your participation without any adverse consequences for you and without the need to justify your decision. In this case your personal data will be destroyed.
  • COMnPLAY SCIENCE project is compliant with all legal procedures in respect of personal data processing, as set out in the applicable European and national law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679). Without prejudice to any exceptions, we would like to inform you that you have the right to access, the right of information, correction, update, blocking and/or erasure of your personal data in accordance with the aforementioned EU Regulation and applicable national laws. In addition, you have the right to file a complaint with the data protection Authority of your country.
